Being a Causeway social enterprise we rely heavily on donations to keep the shop and fleet running. There are three different ways that you can show your support for RightBike.
Every donation made lets us concentrate on our fleet, store, employees and volunteers. If you would like to donate something that is not listed please contact us.
Bike Donations
Your old unused bike or bike parts could be turned into a RightBike! We need bicycles and parts to keep the fleet on the road. Bikes donated to us will also be used as teaching aids for volunteers and mechanics. It’s great experience and practical learning tool.
Donations can be dropped off at the RightBike head office: 1A McCormick.
So if your bike looks like this, please bring it in!
Supply Donations
There is a little more to running a bike share program then the bikes. We also need supplies for our bike shop. Here is our wishlist:
Old Clothes and Sheets
We use a bunch of rags every day for cleaning bikes and use around the shop. Dropping off a bag of t-shirts and other porous clothing/sheets/fabric (cotton and flannel are great) helps us to keep it clean.
Snacks
Staff and volunteers love snacks though we usually make an effort to feed ourselves. It’s great when we can provide a little pick me up for those suffering from low blood sugar crashes. And we aren’t too picky either… Fruit, veggies, chips, and (best of all) freezies are gladly accepted.
Toothbrushes
We will give new life to your old toothbrush as a bicycle cleaning tool.
Toiletries
We have a bathroom that we keep open to the public. Like every other house we run out of thing like hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels and cleaning supplies.
Shelving
We would love to be able to get things off the floor and onto the wall. Any industrial shelving can be used in the shop.
Furniture
We are looking for couches, chairs, and tables for our front room. Please contact us if you are able to help.
Bikes and Bike Parts
We know this has it’s own section but we love bike donations! We will take almost any bike, new or old, as well as bicycle parts. You can drop them off at our headquarters. Your bike will be either lovingly refurbished for our fleet, or disassembled so that it’s components can be re-used and recycled. They also make great learning tools for mechanics and volunteers.
Financial Donations
There are three ways you can make a financial donation to RightBike. If you want to donate online, you can do so through the Causeway Foundation at CanadaHelps.org. Just select RightBike in the drop down menu and the money will make its way to us!
Second, you can drop by our headquarters at 1A McCormick. There you can leave a donation in any form you like, including cash, credit, debit, and cheque. Donations over 20 dollars are eligible for a tax receipt.
Lastly you can mail a cheque, payable to Causeway Foundation, to 22 O’Meara Street, Ottawa, K1Y 4N6.
