We help Ottawa residents get around and stay healthy through community bike repair events and bike mechanics training programs.

As a member of the Causeway Group of Social Businesses our mission is to offer training and supportive employment, providing a bridge to economic independence for those living with mental health challenges and other barriers to employment.

Free Bike Tune-up Events

We're working with community partners to promote bike safety all over the city.

You've probably seen our crew in your neighborhood or at Ottawa City Hall. We've been working with municipal agencies, community associations, nonprofits and employers create access to free, quick bike tune-ups since 2014.

Contact us today to bring our crew to your next community, work or private event.

Bike donations

We take old bikes and turn them into supportive jobs.

Donated bikes are refurbished using a multi-point process and sold back to the public at fair prices. This diverts bikes from landfill, promotes cycling and helps us to provide supportive jobs and training to members of the community with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

Donations of used adult bikes for Right Bike and our sister company Cycle Salvation can be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Cycle Salvation: 473 Bronson Ave (Centretown)
  • Heartwood House: 404 McArthur Ave (Vanier)

Our story

We help Ottawa residents and visitors get around and stay healthy with friendly bike repair events, workshops and bike share solutions. As a member of the Causeway Group of Social Businesses our mission is to offer training and supportive employment, providing a bridge to economic independence for those living with mental health challenges and other barriers to employment.

Right Bike was originally conceived by a business improvement association and a grassroots environmental organization as a means to build community and reduce congestion in Ottawa West. In 2011 the concept was brought to Causeway Work Centre to explore its potential for job creation and training.

From 2012 to 2015 we delivered Ottawa's community-based bike share service with our signature fleet of refurbished purple bikes. Over that time, the program spread from three hubs in one neighborhood to 18 hubs in 12 neighborhoods.

While our services have changed and evolved since we started out, our mission has stayed the same. So far, we have trained and employed over 50 members of the community who are working to overcome barriers to employment.
